does anyone think its even possible?

part of me thinks the jag trem is so reliable that it could actually be done

I think it's possible (I think it has been done by someone on offset), get your drill out and make some holes!
Would need a stiffer spring to compensate for the extra string tension.

A DEVIL'S ADVOCAAT WRITES: could you not just poke two strings through each hole in the trem?

You're probably right there.
(I stand by my stiffer spring theory though)

i think you'd get snagging and other weird phenomena putting two strings through one hole, but i don't know

i also string with gauge 8s on a 12 string so combined tension and compliance is nearer to a set of 10s or 11s probably

edit: guess this will likely be my next project. the last project i made took me around 5 years to complete from the point of inception. so expected completion date will be 2020 at the earliest.
