I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the fretboard until I got a little tung oil on it when doing the front of the headstock, so I figured I would finish it as well. I am thinking that will make it like an all maple neck where it won't need anything except cleaning every so often since it will be finished.
Speaking of the fretboard.... the brown is just so pretty!
Neck is done with finish coats and drying. I wiped on the tenth coat this evening. Really glad I put the finish on it. Looks much better. Just will need to let it dry fully before I install the tuners and nut.
Modified the routs a little more to get the pickups and guard to fit right. Like a glove now. The body isn't quite cured, so I am letting it hang some more now.
All done. Strings on and string tree is installed. The nut I got doesn't seem quite right. The spacing looks a little off, but it works ok. Pickups sounds good. The middle sound and neck sound are almost the same, but the bridge is very bright and jangley. I like it.
That's a very very sick jazzblaster! At first when you started the build, i was like umm i don't like that neck at all, but as a whole it just looks amazing!
It ended up being kind of a hodgepodge mix of things because of roadblocks. I love how it turned out though. Very different from my initial or even mid way plan for it.
