Using my combo amplifier as a Cabinet

Post by Jagtornado »

Hi guys,

I have purchased a combo amplifier for very cheap with a 12 inch speaker. I want to use it as a cabinet for my Orange micro terror

Now my knowledge of the technical stuff is very limited. I need some advice according to what I have to do and buy to make this happen

The wires that are connected to the internal speaker come ricght out of the amp department of the combo

If the hole the speaker cables come out of is big enough for a jack, it's easy install one, then a cable to the speaker.

However, if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing, or how to solder, better get someone else to do it.

You'd have too much to learn, including stripping wires.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Insufficient info. What impedance is the loudspeaker?

The impedance is 8 ohm . I have the micro terror version two which means that the impedance should be at least 8 ohm, so that should be no problem with this speaker or can it be that a speaker can have a slight diversion ?

In that case it should be as simple as disconnecting the existing wiring (is that soldered or push-on connectors?) and wiring a jack socket to the speaker. The tag that the white wire is connected to should be connected to the jack socket "tip" connector (furthest from the panel). If you want to sell the thing on later as a working amp, I suggest you make up some sort of bracket for the jack socket and screw it to the back of the rear panel where the screw holes won't show later.

no man, I've dealt with all kinds of noobs on teh netz, I don't want someone stripping the wires too short then making the whole thing even more complicated, or if the hole is too small and needs drilling, not everyone knows you have to use special metal bits and not bits made for wood on the electric drill, plus I don't want to be responsible for someone accidentally drilling through their hand or picking up a soldering iron by the metal part

The wiring is not soldered and I have already disconnected the wiring . I think I am gonna buy a project box and assemble the female jack into it . Then I assemble the project box inside
