machine head patina

Post by robroe »

i was messing around re-arranging some stuff last night and noticed that the fake white plastic klusons i got from allparts have yellowed a lot more on the compstang than the jagstang. they were both put on about a month apart in time back around 2002ish.

yea dude i think Ping made them both.

they look identical.

they both came from Allparts too.

the ones on the jagstang look they did the day i bought them.

both guitars have lived identical lives, either in a rack, or on a wall in the same room too, for years right next to each other

...Junior Mint fell into the vat that day or the Compstang's finish could be off-gassing and causing a chemical reaction with the plastic?

They look like the guitar has been played in smokey rooms for years.

Which reminds me... remember when Robert(og) put his Jagstang in an air tight box and kept blowing cigarette smoke into it to discolor the finish?
That took relicing a guitar to the next level.

The patina on the Mustang tuners is amazing.
