This is a 2nd revision of an earlier model the Memphis A-2, which is like a 60's Wards Top Twenty with a single clone of a Bill Lawrence XL500 in the middle position....sort of like a Kay Vanguard
It's a 1985 Memphis A-2TR, built by I believe Samick or Cort's Korean plant sometime around 1985. It's a 24" Scale mini-strat type guitar with a DiMarzio clone humbucker that's actually pretty good, that's part of the reason I bought it as these pickups are moderate output and sound darn good clean as they do distorted. It did need a little work (set truss rod, level frets & recrown, unseized the bridge saddle, and it still needs new tuners), but otherwise, I've got it going pretty well. I had no idea what scale it was till I measured from the nut to the 12th fret and happily found it to be a perfect 12". I paid $45 for it. It cleaned up pretty nice.
