TC Electronic Mimiq

Awful metalz demo but would be interested to hear this in a different context.

By harnessing every ounce of power from our new proprietary doubler algorithm, Mimiq manages to distill the magic and uniqueness of actual studio-grade double tracking into a compact pedal. Just stomp it and hear your rockin' riffs gain epic leviathan-like strength, and your lead-lines stand out with unprecedented grandeur, as if played by up to four guitarists at once. When it comes to Mimiq, more is definitely more!

Lolz @ really really subtle flanger for £130

Would totally give it a bash; I use a super-short delay on my 2nd amp to try and thicken things up and avoid phasing issues. Matey from DFA1979 does something similar with a chrous pedal, that's why his feedback always goes WEE-OO-WEE-OO

Doesn't sound like some amazing brand new effect here though, tbh. Maybe some more extreme settings would with less CHUGGA would give a better example.

Can't you read Doog? It's a "new era" FFS.

Yeah. Wouldn't mind a play around with one of these but not sure I'd be prepared to stump up £130 for the privilege...

the viking said that you can adjust the tightness dial to tell the pedal how many beers your other guitars players inside it have had.

i need a pedal to make me play and sound with LESS beer. not MORE

This German uberdork on YT (who I watch loads of videos by, despite cringing all the time) has just released a demo of it:

German geek's stereo tone with the pedal off is the best sound on that video

Is this not a short delay pedal with only 1 repeat?

I'm pretty sure there's a tiny bit of delay time modulation on there too (that first video on headphones illustrates it), IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE, BEN!

I guess the "innovation" here is about the presentation and parameters rather than it being anything actually new.

£130, lol.

Something that does this really well* is the Whammy V with the detune function. It's like a chorus pedal, but without the warble or the oscillations. I love it.

* - I haven't actually listened to the demo, only read the blurb about what they say it does.

I think it'd best off being used run into 2 different distortions and amps (like I do 8)), rather than 'mimiq'ing a distorted sound.

At least you get a slightly different response that way which helps it sound a little closer to more than one guitar.

I see where they're coming from with this, definitely, but it's a poor demo that limits their market impact (even though it's clearly "targeted" from their perspective). Having all the gains turns me off - I'd love to hear how it can thicken up jangly cleans, and at a keener price point I might be interested.

Sounds crap in "mono"... AKA "live"

You can double track for realz in the studio.
