I love this. My favorite thing about Fenders are the maple fretboard guitars. This is a cool option to have.

Kind of wish I could swap my curent jag for a maple neck version.
Good colors too. It's like 2010 Aen got to design a jag/jm series. (except the lack of tele bridge/pickup)

Spec sheet for the Jaguar:

Looks like the top switch is a phase switch.

I like them. They're not traditional, but that's cool. There's a shitload of other options if you want to go the traditional route. Little whiny bitches are complain though.

Not big on overwound pickups, tall/narrow frets (just gimme narrow!), or screw in trem arms, but these do look otherwise pretty neat. Definitely into the phase switch.

Yeah but I'll take narrow/tall over medium/jumbo!!

Also into that redesigned bridge...

Wait and there's no rhythm circuit?

that top plate with one switch on it looks fucking stupid. I don't like 9.5" necks at all.

everything else looks sweet though.

Is the bridge a Staytrem then?

I dig the colors and the witch hat knobs on the JM, kinda don't like the switch placement for the jazzmaster. The jaguar looks nice though, with the four way toggle but got damn if I don't love and miss the bass cut switch on there :( phase switch is cool though, plus the phase switch could amount to some cool tones but overall

NAH

I think I'll stick with the Squier VM series bc these changes aren't for me

I kinda feel you but could prolly deal with the single switch.

Putting on a glossy Japanese neck is always an option. I can live with 9.5 but not my fave.

For me the deal breaker will prolly be cost. Are these gonna be like $1700?

EDIT: $1499 MSRP. Wonder what the street price will be. Used prices at or under $1000 in a few years?

Nice that they've designed them with a neck profile that's "perfect for chord and single-note playing alike". Too often I have to switch between guitars because they're only really suitable for rhythm rather than lead.

Who is that sort of sales copy aimed at?

The Jaguar's switching is perfect. Edit: near-perfect – including a strangle on the upper plate (next to the phase switch) would have made it look less sparse.

They should have left the Jazzmaster's toggle in the usual place and put a series or phase switch in place of the rhythm circuit.

Not keen on the maple fretboards but the small print says there will also be rosewood options.

The bridge is just a Mustang bridge with brass saddles – the problems of too-wide string spacing and difficult intonation adjustment are still not solved. Would still replace with Staytrem.

Rather dull body colours IMO.

Would be interested to try the neck shape and 'tall narrow' frets.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that the bridge is apparently the same as the one on the TVL Jazzmaster. No idea if that's actually true.

I think they look pretty good tbh. I really like the 4 way Tele switch on my JM Jaguar so it's good to see they've adopted it here. I'm one of the, probably few, people who is a fan of the rhythm circuit on Jaguars so it's a bit of a shame (IMHO etc) that it's been dropped here. It's understandable though as I get the impression most people never use it and the phase switch does add some extra options.

Overall, pretty decent looking.

The worst is when you have to play a riff during the verses and then chords during the chorus, you've got to be really on your game to keep up with the changes. Forget playing a solo - can't be done.

It's the only way I can play half my songs.
