Plates are all done. Only thing I am missing is the jack which should arrive this week and the pickups. (Of course the new paint needs to dry before I work on it.) Plates turned out ok. The volume/tone lower plate was a beast. I left it in acid for almost three days without much reaction. I just decided to steel wool it up and use salt and hydrogen peroxide. It will be fine. I am not going for beauty pageant.
Did a mock up before I relic'ed the body. Neck fits well and parts line up ok. Might have to drill a couple new holes for the plates due to the new guard. Man Jaguars suck for lining up holes... LOL Anyways, here are the pics. I also included some of my relic work. (I know not everyone approves of artificially aging guitars and I also know I am no pro at it. I just had fun with it and I am pretty happy with how it looks. )
that is pretty rad looking. seeing the decal against the headstock reminded me of the black jaguar i had with the matching stock. i don't remember who i got it from, but i think i sold it to ben? or maybe he ended up with it. anywho. it tripped me out that from the factory with the matching black stock they used a normal decal. you could only tell in certain light that it said jaguar.
Naw. I had planned on that, but the back of the body was all black when I got it and had a poorly done burst on the front so I just painted it black. Then I decided I didn't want another black Jaguar.... then I thought of a white one with black under.... and here I am.
