I had a guitar with tuners like that and I just sprayed WD40 and it worked liked a charm. Also works on closed tuners, but you have to spray from the top.

Yep,it was only in Sears 1968 Spring/Summer catalog ,They were the last model 1478 sold.The 14781 had the red burst body with red foil pickups and the 14782 had a Metallic Blue body and blue foil pickups. They both had a roller bridge instead of the wooden bridge on the 1478.
By the time the 1968 Fall/Winter catalog came out,the solidbodys were replaced with guitars from Japan.
I've seen these in person all the time. I have never seen that blue one, it's really cool.

Yeah,it pretty rare.I have never seen one for sale. I have seen the red ones on Ebay,but not very often.
I didn't realize when I made this thread that this guitar is a shortscale.I just measured it from the nut to the bridge and it is 24".I should have put it in the Shortscale section.Maybe a moderator can move it.
