The only thing wrong with this guitar is that the high "E" tuner is really tight. Can taht be repaired or do I have to replace the whole strip?

See if there is gunk or dirt in the gear.

I had a guitar with tuners like that and I just sprayed WD40 and it worked liked a charm. Also works on closed tuners, but you have to spray from the top.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Yep,it was only in Sears 1968 Spring/Summer catalog ,They were the last model 1478 sold. The 14781 had the red burst body with red foil pickups and the 14782 had a Metallic Blue body and blue foil pickups. They both had a roller bridge instead of the wooden bridge on the 1478.

By the time the 1968 Fall/Winter catalog came out,the solidbodys were replaced with guitars from Japan.

I've seen these in person all the time. I have never seen that blue one, it's really cool.

Yeah,it pretty rare.I have never seen one for sale. I have seen the red ones on Ebay, but not very often.

I didn't realize when I made this thread that this guitar is a shortscale.I just measured it from the nut to the bridge and it is 24".I should have put it in the Shortscale section.Maybe a moderator can move it.

I took it to my friend Ted Vig's Shop today and he said the problem with the tuner is because it is missing a ferrule. He is going to fix it for me.
