Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb
I got a new amp and I made a demo of that new amp that I got

it's lovely. Sounds beautiful with or without pedals. I get lost in it.

Ex demo from a shop here in EdinburghNoirie. wrote:Nice. You get it brand new?
I found they had it the cheapest online and when I went to play it they cut me a deal
Really happy with it. Played both this and the '65 RI and there is no way £400 difference in the way they sound and feel
Both lovely amplifiers
I've been wanting a Princeton for around 10 years now. Finally got one at the ripe old age of 36
The '68 series in general has been pretty good to me. Nice score.

Why isn't it a Marshall half stack? Getting old, man.
Looks good though. I keep thinking about decent, smaller, more manageable combos.
Probably a bit of a busman's holiday, but have you ever considered building your own, Mike? I keep looking at these and dreaming of building it into a combo:

Yeah I have been considering doing something like that as a side hobby, taking my time on it. In the past I remember all the places being US based and very expensive but that looks extremely reasonable and UK based. Thanks very much for the link!Bacchus wrote:Why isn't it a Marshall half stack? Getting old, man.

I was totally surprised how full it sounds, so much bass from such a small amp - I generally have the bass on 1-2 and I use trebly guitars. Obviously I'm not playing it very loud, generally around "3" so the usable range may open up the louder you have it.ultratwin wrote:Congrats, that's a keepah!
A guitarist in the SoCal Moollon family lent us a late 1960s Princeton for NAMM a few years back. It was gorgeous, so much volume and oomph from a little box.
I want to take it down to Stew's place as he has no neighbours and really open it up. The tremolo and reverb are so addictive and lush, and make me play differently, leaving space where previously I wouldn't have done.
haha that avatar is SO out of date.Doog wrote:Time for an upgrade
sunglasses - live in Scotland now, so not needed (lost)
no beard - means older than at least 2014!
EL34s - yup I like them still but generally at room volume LOLS

Play 'em both if you cantimhulio wrote:Sounds really good. I need a replacement for my SF Deluxe Reverb as I don't want to have worry about that amp at guitar shows. Can't decide between the Princeton and the Deluxe tho.
I didn't play the Deluxe as it's crazy expensive and I didn't want to want it.
having said that for guitar shows I'm sure you'll find the Princeton will take pedals nicely, weigh a lot less, sound plenty nice and loud (and cost you a bundle less) for guitar shows.
I've been really impressed how much pedals bed into the clean sound on these amps.
