Millimetric Guitars

I almost really like these guitars. I'm a fan of the headstock, but the body isn't quite there yet for me. Really keen to see where they end up in a few years. And they're Canadian. The fret markers are nicely themed with the name of the company.

I followed their instagram and they are interesting to follow indeed. They put up a lot of shots of neck carving and building just in general. The dude also has a fucking sweet pedalboard. Do want the baritone that they make, sexy as fuck.
EDIT: Cos my grasp of the English language is awful, clearly.

Quick update - started talked to the person who runs the facebook page. Back ordered til October 2017! I asked about pickups and colour combos and so I'll post the persons response below:
Hi, curently the queue goes to october 2017. The Colors available are pretty much infinite as long as It stays tastefull. Bariton is available in maple only with colored body or natural. Pickups are single coils based on Travis Bean tb500 pickups, very bright clear and punchy. I Also have the HB version of It but with alnico 2 instead of alnico 5.
TBH - this kinda makes me want one more. Do want an MGS3 in British Racing Green. But then I kinda want everything in BRG...

So my Millimetric MG6 arrived in March. Didn't do a post as I was pretty undecided about it as a guitar. Kinda still am, but this is a lot to do with the fact that I hadn't/haven't been playing a lot of guitar recently, and have been spending more time on keyboards and DAW.
The Good is basically the sound, and the craftsmanship. The HB sounds better than any guitar I've ever owned. The neck P90 sounds warmer than that on my EGC. The bridge design is genius, and the overall finish is sublime.
The Bad (which is more subjective) is that the finish is textured. Like a really light sand paper, so it grabs a bit, and could shit up your favourite gig t shirt. I guess it was something that was lost in the translation of ordering and specifying. It's also taken me a bit of time to get used to the nut width, which makes the neck feel a bit cramped at the cowboy chord end. Which is surprising really, as it's nearly identical to my mustang.
Going to use it with my new side project (electro industrial), as I've now started to do really shit whammy bar stuff on the new songs with the main band, so unfortunately this is ruled out.

Sorry won't be doing a demo. Because I'm shit. If I record anything with it or when I gig it, I'll video it and report back.

Cheers man, it's certainly an awesome design. I've never owned one, but I guess it's a design version of an SG. I think it probably will smooth out in contact areas, but I also think I'll just get used to it. I'm a bit of a fretter, so always find something to keep me up at night. I was torn about this and the offset one with a higher up upper bout, Thought that this might neck dive, but so far it's been fine.BearBoy wrote:I think it looks great Gus.
Do you think the finish might smooth off a bit over time?
I'm on the megabus to LDN right now. You best hope my mood mellows over the next 13 hours.Doog wrote:Laughing
