I'm starting to really explore the semi modular world and also the eurorack world but after getting the Neutron (which is brilliant and will post some sounds up soon) I'm starting to long for some really wild drum type stuff. This video of the Moog Drummer from another Mother is really making me want to get one. It seem's to be so jammable and get in to some brilliant percussive textures

Yeah looks (and sounds) super cool doesnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t it.

IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ve just been in Echigoya music and Five G musician Tokyo. Crazy amounts of gear (new and old, but mainly old).

Just bought one. CanÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t wait to get home and see if I can get slightly close to the sounds in that video. Playing it in the shop though brought me smiles as itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s a total riff machine

that actually sounds way better than i expected it to. i kind of hate moog at the moment because their stuff is SO EXPENSIVE to the point where it seems unjustifiable (like that 6 grand polysynth

), and they're clearly trading on their brand name hugely (heard/seen horror stories about inadequate soldering and shocking repair/customer service policy)

...but the flipside is nice stuff like this. i think eurorack just has to be a no-go area for me, it just seems like a total money pit. certain death.

It plays great but some things on there would be nice (like an lfo and certain things cv controlled) but I can use it with the neutron for patching to extend it.

This and the neutron can be racked and IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ve been looking at some extra modules to extend them (a high hats modules and some more things like a disting, maths or PamelaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s new workout).

You are right about the dangers of it becoming a money pit which is why IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m tentative but the neutron has so much packed in it starts you off for little expense.

Yes been looking at that also and myler melodies uses it in that video I think as well as in several others

How much of that stuff would they let you play? Was it all set up and patched in?

All set up, all happy for you to play. I played the model D, a Juno, and the minilogue. The minilogue was my favourite

I guess I was quite overwhelmed by the older synths. I get all self conscious in musical instrument shops (because iÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m cliched and weak). IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m also more used to mini keys, sacralidge I know. I will certainly get a minilogue. I donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t currently have anything that is easy to tweak, and IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m pretty much ch a synthesis novice, so I think itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢d be a good proving ground.

For sure nothing sounded like the minimoog, but I also felt like god was judging me lol

I get that feeling of not wanting to try stuff out in shops

the sequencer and tools on the minilogue should help you learn how to craft your own sounds more

the minilogue is really good, i just wish it had full size keys. the prologue doesn't seem to sound any better but costs about 4 times the price = fuck that

Ok, IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m in love with this and IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ve been syncing it to the neutron which works brilliant. The patching options are great but the large patchbay of the neutron shows what a great value synth that was (I spent less than Ã‚Â£240).

IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m now looking at some was to extend it and add some extra bits. Some simple drums (hats, snare & kick) would go a long way. Maybe a mixer and some clock divider or interesting ways to trigger / sequence them both
