New Amp Day: Marshall Origin 20 Head
I missed my JTM45, it was a great amp but too bloody loud. My old band never liked it and convinced me to go back to my dual terror. I regretted selling the JTM45 and I happened upon the origin range. Looks like a Plexi, sounds like a Plexi but with power scaling and an FX loop. Sounds brilliant through the purple cab of James, that cab has mojo arrows galore. It's still fucking loud for a 20/7/.5 scaling amp and you still have to crank it for a driven sound. Mikes making me a box to stick in the loop to attenuate it.
edit: how to I post photos that are hosted on google photos in a thread? just tried and it didn't work.

I have a Weber mini mass attenuator, but the ohm selector switch got damaged when some twat knocked off my amp at a gig. I would swap out the switch but I'm shit at soldering.

You'll need a filepath that ends with the filename type, oldskoolProgrockabuse wrote:I missed my JTM45, it was a great amp but too bloody loud. I'm not even sure Google photos will allow hotlinking/embeds?
If you're trying to drive the power-amp section for dirt based on what I've read, FX loop 'attenuators' don't really do anything, alas

Either way, I'm sure it sounds SICK, nice oneeeee

I'm not sure it will have enough gain for your needs even with the attenuator, but I guess it's interesting to try out new things.

I've been using my saltbooster in the loop turned down low to mimic a passive attenuator. If I set the master to 10/11 I clock and the gain at 2/3 I clock, I can get that classic early marshall crunch that I'm after, it's just too fucking loud without something to tame it in the loop.
I didn't want to bother Mike too much with trying to fix my mini-mass, and the passive loop method will make a nice footswitchable volume boost if i was to gig with it.

Still living in the same place, though with my shifts it feels like a bed and breakfast.NickS wrote:Rob, where are you these days?
