Squier vintage modified Jaguars vs fender Jaguar help!!
to save me looking, whats the main differences?
One is up for sale locally for £175 I had planned on building a Jaguar from parts but this would work out cheaper. As I would only want to change guard, refinnish and add mute. Maybe upgrade electrics and add shielding.
Are they poplar?

I had a body I sold about a month or two ago, it was sunburst and the grain was pretty nice. Some may not look so nice, it depends how they matched the pieces.
Would be doing a solid colour anyway so not an issue. Its currently white(like my first Jaguar)Fakir Mustache wrote:I had a body I sold about a month or two ago, it was sunburst and the grain was pretty nice. Some may not look so nice, it depends how they matched the pieces.

Mine was 7 lbs. something with all the parts on. It was the HH model.
Basswood can vary a lot in weight, it's usually lighter though.

That's good to know, I want to paint it nitro probably in black and don't mind if it gets battered as I like that look.Nick wrote:I know it’s soft. Dings easily so good if you’re cool with inevitable relicing. I don’t remember my basswood CV P Bass being overly heavy for a larger instrument so I’d say it’s probably light too.
I don't know tbh, never painted/finished anything. Generally it's a soft wood with a uniform pattern, I imagine it's not the most problematic wood to finish, but that's just my thoughts. Basswood bodies can be really heavyHurb wrote:Cheers!sunshiner wrote:VMs are basswood afaik
Ok what's that like for refinishing?

It is heavy.
So far it plays OK needs a proper setup. Has a mustang bridge. The trem is stiff I have a 60s jag trem to put on it anyway. Neck is nice. Its all pretty much mint condition. The guy I bought it from was super nice and started telling me about the jags failings. I was like dude I am hurb from teh internets...i got this!
Anyway not plugged it in yet. The tort is horrible....Dooooog!!!?
