NGD: Lady Hurb bought me a guitar for Christmas
So I got my Christmas present early. I had originally thought about getting one of the pink CV Jazzmasters..but then thought fuck it I want a Bass Vi because its basically a daddy Jaguar and I am all about Jags.
It needs a setup and bigger strings. But its actually super nice.
More as I get to know it.

Ace. I've got the white VM one (coincidentally a Christmas present from Mrs BB a few years back) and it's great fun.
I bought some La Bellas for it (and a Staytrem bridge) as the stock low E was too floppy. Looks like Fender do a thicker gauge set now though, which are much cheaper.
Although I guess you're all about the fancy flatwounds these days...

Of course! totally would of found a used white VM if it wasn't for the need of Andertons credit.BearBoy wrote:Ace. I've got the white VM one (coincidentally a Christmas present from Mrs BB a few years back) and it's great fun.

I haven't a fooking clue what to play on it...I think I am just going to treat it like a guitar.Mike wrote:Belter!
I've always had fun monkeying around on these but part of my knows I wouldn't know what to play if I ever owned one.
Royal Blood riffz?
Looks fabulous though

I once recorded a band where the bassist used a VI and played it fingerstyle. Trying to play Geezer Butler style runs, and stuff like that. It sounded like total shit. As long as you don’t do that, I reckon you’re golden.Hurb wrote:I haven't a fooking clue what to play on it...I think I am just going to treat it like a guitar.

Funnily enough, I was informing my gf that Bass VIs existed a few days ago (pure mansplaining), as she really likes doing chordy stuff on her bass, she seemed super into it.
Awesome defo looking forward to blasting the bass vi on a couple of tracks with youse!
Oh baby, I loved mine. Staytrem bridge is money well spent, I upgraded the trem because I demand an American trem assembly, but this was mainly unnecessary. More fun tuned A-A as a baritone, in my opinion: you can play chords then, and they rumble and shake. They flub out a bit E-E.
Also fuck Glen Campbell, homophobic arsehole. Hijacking this corder of the thread Roebore style to post superior versions of Wiichita Lineman.
