Too bad, it is. Proper vintage A width is 38.1mm, not 40. The JS actually measures out a hair narrower than 40.
The neck profile has a lot to do with how big/small a neck feels... I thought my SG-II would be a little wider at the nut than the JS, but once I measured them both together I learned it was actually a little narrower... not enough to feel with your hands.
