How to get a cool synth sound on Guitar
Don't know how many Idles fans are on here but that's kind of only partly the point of this video

Seen them on a number of occasions locally and remember seeing them 3rd on the bill at the louisiana supporting Teeth of the Sea years ago and standing out. Most of my friends got in to them after they played Glastonbury the other year.
I love them and I also loved this video when I watched it earlier. It's your usual no nonsense approach to things while also being instructional and informative

Will watch and will enjoy I'm sure but Idles are shite.
Very much interested in synthy guitar. Rather than using synth style pedals or patches, I've liked the extra challenge of restricting myself to only using something to change the tone (basically your oscillator/wave shape), then something like reverb close to 100% wet to change the envelope, cocked wahs, pitch shifters, tremolo, other modulation effects, etc.
Basically, taking all the gorgeous, complex sounds that the instrument can produce, and all the brilliant things that each pedal can do, but reducing them right down to "fuck you, I just want you to create this one impulse."

its basically turning it into a square wave without pulse width modulation
