gun metal green SG
picked this up from my colleague today. he's in his early 50s now and believes he got this from the (now defunct) Guitar Trader music shop in clairmont when he was in high school. for that age and what he's put it through, it is in great shape. have not plugged it in yet and have only had a minute to snap and post these photos. the checking on the paint is gorgeous. can't wait to try out/record/post how it sounds!

That's cool as fuck.
Re: gun metal green SG
If Arnie had a guitar in Commando, it would be that guitar.
Re: gun metal green SG
I love an SG and I love a chainsaw case. The perfect birthday gift!
Re: gun metal green SG
Love it, looks like a weapon.
Seems like it was converted into a shredder, aftermarket trem and looks like dimazios? What do the switches do?

Looks cool af. It'd probably be impossible to do with these many mods done to it, but returning it to its original hardware and electronics would be awesome. Also an sg in this colour but with Filtertrones would look killer

He must have been using 5mm Allparts picks. I can only get my guitars to the way they are with 1mm
Re: gun metal green SG
Love this!
Re: gun metal green SG
It's a thin nitro finish, it'll peel with ease. People in the sixties used to turn their guitars into a trashy goodness just through a couple of years of regular playing. The finish has already started checking beautifully at the bottom

Re: gun metal green SG
That looks like a great guitar. If it were me I'd leave it exactly as it is.
Re: gun metal green SG
80s Kahler SG Special! That it the tits. Stuffed full of Dimarzio goodness too!
Shipped like that btw, not modded (well apart from what looks to be a couple of coil splits). Probably pretty rare! You can always spot a Gibson one that’s stock like that by the truss cover (it’s cut in half for the locking nut, modded ones are usually just missing that part. If memory serves they came with a bunch of pickup options.

But this one looks like it has the holes for stop tailpiece? Wonder if someone has converted it to "standard" SG spec, then back again?
Re: gun metal green SG
Yeah, as it is it's a complete work of art. I guess it's just a matter of taste

Re: gun metal green SG
Well spotted! I think you’re bang on the money.
Dots, check in the chainsaw compartment, there’s a wee hides-hole bit at the body end. There might be some stuff in there if it was converted at some point.
Re: gun metal green SG
Didn't mean this to sound arrogant but just realized it does. I meant the guitar is as complete as it could be within the genre
