So a company with an already ropey track record, using their new "it's only pretend until you back our crowdfunder" business model. Already iffy.

But what's that, dear reader? You've noticed the weird anomaly? A trussrod cover on a Bean? Well that's because the neck is a set maple neck, painted silver. That's the aluminium-necked guitar equivalent of me just scatting the tricky bits when I play guitar. In an even bigger own goal, at least if they'd made it bolt-on, some clever type could have made an aluminium neck upgrade kit for it.

i dig the overall aesthetic but am not a fan of the bridge setup for some reason. it does sound whack the way they've setup their business, too.

That's way more than I paid for my EGC back in the day. There's also a German company making wooden neck 'Travis Bean' guitars. Using the actual trademark and charging even more than Eastwood.
