i originally picked up a couple of guitars with the intention to mod them but they didn’t really need anything else done to them so I traded them out for this. It’s a totally messed up SG (60s Tribute). These are great guitars, 24 fret neck too. I used to have one of these a few years ago (as well as a 50s). The guitar still played great but the person had bought it then immediately did a poor relic job. I think he used a chemical too as some of the lacquer was kinda gummy. It also has gouges and it looked like he’d been playing the drums on the edge of it with a screwdriver shaft. He passed the guitar on to another modder dude and it then went from him to me.
I wanted to get this up and running so I opted for a quick and dirty refin. I steamed out the worst of the dents which went far better than expected (the dents were about a third of the depth of a screwdriver shaft). The top pic is after it was steamed out. The edge felt serrated. Then stripped a load of paint.
It was actually far worse than it looks in real life. Just kinda shitty. I didn’t mind the actual wear just hated the screwdriver madness
