NGD: '96 MIK Epiphone Sorrento
I've gone back and forth regretting selling my Casino years ago to another Shortscaler, but I had to sell something to buy something, so away it went. The Casino Coupe I had a few years ago didn't really scratch that itch for whatever reason and I always kinda preferred the look of the Sorrento to the Casino, so I've been looking for one that wasn't insanely priced these past few months. I stumbled across one on GC/Musician's Friend's used site and bit. I didn't find one in burgundy mist, turquoise, gold, or black like I had hoped and orange is one of my least favorite colors, but for some reason, this shade works for me. It has a very comfortable thinner neck and it came upgraded with Gibson tuners. After getting it properly set up and with a new set of strings I'm pretty geeked with it. I told myself that this is my last guitar for some time to come and of course I had to see the new Squier Paranormal models....
Anyway, here's a pic:

That orange is fantastic.
It looks like a really nice guitar.

Re: NGD: '96 MIK Epiphone Sorrento
Thank you for the kind words. These last few days have been the most fun I've had playing in a while.

Glad you found this, I believe I bought that casino and it is a beauty! There is definitely so,e thing great with the 90’s Korean Epi’s.

Yep, it's your good hands now. I saw that you made some pretty cool mods to it, too. My experience with the Sorrento has made me reconsider Epiphone stuff lately as it's really comfortable to play (most of the Epiphones I checked out in recent years had necks that felt a little large for me), but I'm guessing it's because of the thinner neck. I'm wondering if that was sort of typical of the 90s MIK Epiphones vs. the ones now available?

My late 80s MIK Epiphone LP has a thin neck, as did the two MIK SGs I’ve had.plaidbeer wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 7:52 pmYep, it's your good hands now. I had a 97ish Sheraton with a slim neck, absolutely one of the best necks I’ve ever played. I could never get it to sound the way I wanted and I sold it to a friend. That era of MIK Epis are superb.
