Shadowmaster 3.0
The Shadowmaster is still the most powerful Jazzmaster in the world.
Body is a MIM Blacktop Jazzy. Neck is from the old American Facepalm series with goofy switch placement. New pickups: Duncan Antiquity in the neck, Duncan Jerry Donahue in the bridge. The plate is literally a sawed off Telecaster bridge, and it's completely cosmetic since the pickguard was custom for a tele pickup in the bridge. I'd argue that since the plate is ferromagnetic, it contributes to the overall magnetic domain of the pickup, but Nick says it's 100 emoji not doing anything for me. The important thing is that it looks hard as fuck. Credit where it's due: this was absolutely my attempt to knock off hurb's recent project.
1.0 was the stock Blacktop Jazzy in sunburst
2.0 was a replacement blacktop body in black with the MIA neck and a Duncan Designed Detonator (basically a Duncan Distortion with big Invader polepieces) and a Triple Shot pickup ring with switching built in.

Looks a lot of fun.
There's something I don't like about the mismatched pickup covers, though. I think it wouldn't bother me if not for the knobs being matched to the neck pickup.
You could go cream and black for the knobs too.

Re: Shadowmaster 3.0
The chrome plate fixes that for me, visually. Breaks it up enough.

Yeah, I think you're right. I suppose I'm also of the notion that the default colour should be black or wood. If it's going to be anything else exotic (like off-white), then you need a good reason.
Having said all that, I really love the half bridge surround. I love that far more than I have reservations about the cream. And I'm fully prepared to believe that it makes a sonic difference by being there. You should now try different bridges. Cold rolled steel, titanium, milled vs pressed etc. All the bullshit.
