I've found that there's a very fine line between "good" and "harsh" with the FZ-3. If you have the chance, use it with another distortion pedal. You can get some pretty awesome sounds out of it.

I did give it a try with my Dano Fab Distortion(Only use it on rare occasions) but it was way too muffled, sounded like shit...

Try to get your hands on an MXR Dist+. I found that that worked best with the FZ-3. Plus, you have to play with the settings a fair amount. The FZ-3 is touchy, thus why I said there's such a fine line between "good" and "harsh".

Hey don't be embarassed of the FAB Distortion, it's a great pedal. That and the FAB Overdrive are excellent.

Heh, I'm not embarased, I just use it for volume boosting and thats mostly it...

Well when I go through the Strat to the Roland Cobe 30 it can get kinda muddy, I guess it depends on the player and equipment...

Those cubes don't take pedals very well.

A nice tube amp will lap it up.

there are better amps for that price range - the overdrive on the Fender Hot Rod's is useless. You should make a thread telling us what style of music you play and how many bones you have to spend, we'll get you some recommendations to try out.

It seems somewhat bizarre to buy a tube amp that can't be overdriven in a pleasing way (when that is, in fact the beauty of tube amplifiers) but whatever, it's your money.

The Hot Rods are overpriced cheap tube amps. They are extremely limited.
