Orange Rockerverb 50H & 2x12 Cab
So here it is, I picked it up last night - and needless to say I think it's great. Took it down to our practice room to put it through its paces.
Fuck me it's a great amp.
Here are the specs:
Rockerverb 50 Head
Power 50 watts
Channel Configuration Clean / Dirty
Reverb and FX Loop Both Tube Driven
Footswitch Function Channel / Reverb
Tube Failure Protection* Yes
Hi/ Lo Damping Yes
Preamp Tubes 4 X 12AX7
Power Tubes 4 X 6V6
Reverb / FX Tubes 2 X 12AT7
Clean Channel Controls Volume / Bass / Treble
Dirty Channel Controls Gain / Volume / Bass / Middle / Treble
2 X 12 Cabinet
Power Handling 120 Watts
Speaker Configuration 2 X 12
Speaker Type Celestion Vintage 30
Impedance 16 Ohms
Input type 1/4" Jack
It just sounds awesome. Clean channel is really warm - not surprising as these are said to be dark voiced amps. Everything is really clear though, no muddiness whatsoever. The p90 in my Jag sounded so sweet.
Dirty channel is so much fun. With gain up about 9 o'clock it's still pretty clean, but on the edge of breakup. Turn it up to 11 - 12 o'clock and you're into crunch territory. Up to about 2 -3 o'clock and that's pretty hi gain lead sound. Past that and the faces are melting!
Like I said before our bass player has got a digital recorder now, so when he's back from holiday (after the weekend) I'll definitely do some clips.

That looks fucking beautiful - thanks for sharing man.
So you didn't like that one that just had a Volume on the clean channel? The one you have looks like it's nice and versatile - I could get by with those controls no problem.
How many bones did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?
That cabinet looks beaut, I bet you baby it in and out of the car!
Well happy for you, new amp time is a great time of year

Yeah I tried both the Rockers - the 30 had only volume on the Clean channel, but it was voiced really well, very balance, I think that I could have lived with it. But then trying the 50, it was much better - different tubes (the 30 and the 100 both have EL34s) so it sounded like an amp in its own right rather than just a more powerful version. Like you said, more versatile, and it has reverb too which the 30 didn't.Mike wrote:That looks fucking beautiful - thanks for sharing man.

I thought that if I was going to spend a lot of money on an amp, I may as well spend A LOT of money on an amp. After all, this is going to be it for me as far as I can see for the next 10 years at least!
Cost me ?1400 in total, which was as cheap as I could find it on the web and Manson's matched the price. That's my annual bonus gone in one shot. Hell curtains can wait can't they
The cab is heavy as fuck! So is the head for that matter! Could do with a little pulley system for getting it in and out of the car
The only annoying thing is that Orange don't provide a footswitch - cheeky fuckers. So that's ?20 extra if you want one, and you have to buy 2 if you want switchable reverb as well as they only manufacture single switches! Luckily, they take any latching footswitch, so I just did what you and Doog suggested the other day and got myself a Stereo -> 2 Mono lead and am using my Marshall footswich for Channel/Reverb which works fine.
My only wish right now would be that I wasn't at work so I could go and play with it!
Not at all! Something I forgot to do in all the excitement!Doog wrote:Nice one, Lampy! Looks rad.
Do you miss having a middle control on the clean channel?
(I took the liberty of resizing the photos, it was taking ages to load, hope ye don't mind! Everyone must see sexy amp pics as quickly as poss )
Um, middle control - no, can't say that I do. It's voiced really well and it sounded great wherever the treble and bass were set. I think that I read somewhere that the mids were interactive with the bass and treble controls.

Oh and I know what you mean about voicing - pretty much all my EQ on my 6100 is very close to 12 o'clock just because it sounds great with my guitar at that setting - it's great to have the independent EQs in case I'm using my Jazzmaster or something which needs a tweak but for my Tele it's perfect as is.
