Project "RAT-Rehouse-And-Mod" went spiffingly, looks like I just have to replace the slightly intermittent SPDT footswitch (had it lying about, hear me getting annoyed with it in the sample) and at some point come up with some graphics.

Used the 1k pot for the "stock and beyond" mode, I'm almost tempted to put the 4k7k pot in there to see how insane it can get, it starts to self oscillate a little with the boost pot all the way up.

Badly recorded sonds here. Little Zoom 15w modelling combo with all the guff turned off, plus Jazzmaster. And riffs from Skitchin' for the Mega Drive.

Anything with more gain/chunk/hiss is the "stock and beyond mode" with the boost dial maxed, you can generally hear me switching modes. Oddly enough, the oscillation comes when the gain is really low in the boosted mode.

Definately a bigger difference between the modes with the gain medium-low, something I didn't really do on the demo

You've got the Bulls on Parade down to a T, nice one. Good demo, I didn't realise the Rat could be so awesome.

*not to self - must remember to not listen to pedal demos on headphones*

This one was particularly stupid because you said it started to oscilate, and dirt oscilation is gonna involve feedback of some sort.

If/when i do the mod, i think im gonna be quite tempted to do this too.

Fuckin' soldering iron doesn't seem to work properly since I knocked it off the table half an hour ago just as I was about to change pots.

BALLS.

sounds radical man! i have respect for the man that can fiddle around inside his pedals and have them still work when he's done!

It was dead easy to be honest, although I was shitting myself a bit that I'd fuck up the PCB just in time for tomorrow's Casa Bonita gig and be without a distortion pedal..

Gonna have to pick up a soldering iron really soon, I wanna put that other pot in and take the RAT into new and dangerous places :D

If you experience any technical difficulties on stage, I did that with my mind.

Pfft, Casa gigs are all about the technical difficulties. On our first gig, Aslett though couldn't find the mp3 song interludes on his mp3 player, then his double kick pedal exploded. Or at least fell apart.

No Argos in my town, would have to spend a fiver on bus fares and go to Chichester :/ I think Robert Dyas or the craft-art-hobby-electronics in town could hook me up. What kinda wattage is generally ideal for guitar steez?

Thanks for the props, y'all. Kinda annoying it's not nicely symmetrically laid out, but all the RAT parts are PCB mounted so didn't really have a choice.

BUT I WANT IT NOOOOOOW *stamps feet*

Cheers for the headsup, but I don't think I need any more cutters, tape measures, allen keys and what not- my toolkit barely closes as it is.

I'd get it anyway, think about it - a soldering iron and solder costs that much. And Allen keys get lost. the precision screwdrivers are very useful too.

Dig the chunks, Doog., and fun to think of what slamming the front end of a tuber with that thing boosted up later on would sound like. I predict a cranky Mickey Mouse with a beard and a hangover, horny for some Minnie.
