everyone talks about having to replace them often.
does no one use rechargable ones? they're worth it.

i dont know, i still didnt take out the stock eh battery thats in my big muff. i bought cheap reserve ikea batteries just for replacement.

i usually just daisy chain my pedals, but i was just wondering about other folks. the daisy chain kit i have has adapter for 9volts.

i bought 4 9v rechargables off ebay, but i don't like using em.

mainly cos pedals are stupid, and as soon as the batteries run low they don't tell you, they just stop making as much sound.

and then i don't notice, and just think my tone's gone all sh#tty.

i like those types of batteries that when they start to run out, they just die immediately.

yeah i dont even like regualar AA rechargable batteries, they run out too fast.

people who still use battery's in fx (unless they have too..e.g no adapter or its a fuzz that sounds better with battery) don't deserve to have pedals and should stick to playing blues.

Yeah, I'm one of those rookies, but that's only because I'm just starting to build my pedal collection and I haven't got round to getting a daisy chain yet. I have 9v adaptors somewhere, I'll have to dig one up and get one of those daisy chain adaptors. Shit, I need patch cables too.

Fuzzes with Adapters are corny. I buy maybe a Dozen batteries a year for all my fuzzes. It really isn't a big deal. Some newer boutique fuzzes like the Fuzz Factory have a stupid long battery life. Using an adapter with the Big Muff is CORNY. People who use power adpaters with vintage fuzzes and vintage fuzz designs should shoot themselves in the face.

i added that fuzzes are fine with battery's

my ff has a battery. it doesn't sound as good with an adapter.

everything else plug it in. or blues

In my experience, Rechargeables dont hold the peak power for as long, and as such the quality deteriorates quicker than disposables.

It don't think it's snake oil, have you tried it yourself. Run a Big Muff with the EHX designed Power Adapter and then a battery. Run a Fuzz Face with a battery, then run it with a power supply. If it's all bullshit why do pedal manufacturers and pedal designers try and knock the power down or adjust the circuit like you're using a battery?

And why complicate shit when you can just use a battery?

I also find the simpler fuzzes, like a Fuzz Face or a Tone Bender with germanium transistors the better it sounds with a battery. I don't know the scientific or mathematical explanations why maybe somebody does. I just use my ears. The last time we had this discussion people basically started talking about Green Shit and the Enviorment. Sorry, but the health of the planet doesn't have crap to do with the sound of my guitar.

It is the internal resistance changes in the battery when supplying a Fuzz with power. Sort of like power sag in a tube amp. It gets worse, different types of batteries exhibit differing series resistances. There is some truth to that.

A power supply can probably be designed to do something similar. Or you can just use a battery.

The whole power sag thing kicked up an idea in my head for a fuzz with a envelop detector that then modulates an adjustable voltage regulator to simulate sag, or something else cool.

But anyway, there is some science to the "battery-fuzz" thing. It is more evident the simpler the circuit is because there is literally only one point that the power supply can really effect the sound in most fuzzes, and when it does it shows up in the way the transistor distorts.
