FAO PenPen, Heavium, Lamp + other Lefties

Post by euan »

So guys, we are all lefties, we all have our pet peeves about the situation, the common one probably being the lack/expense of our favourite guitars.

But the one littlest thing that gets me is effects pedals, and the right to left signal path. Just means I'm always a bit worried of tripping over a cable that is behind/infront of me as it runs from left to right .

It's a very little silly thing I know. But it bothers me.

What gets you?

Why not just change the order of your effects (physical order, not plugged in order)?

If you have them like this on the floor...

E D C B A

so youre cable is stretching in front of you to go into A, change it to be...

A E D C B and then have the excess cable run along the back of the pedals from A to B
Shabba.

A small thing that gets on my nerves is how on most fender headstocks we just get the "Fender" and not the model name - I mean how hard is it to stick "Jaguar" on there too? They managed it with the Jag-Stang why not all the others?

Or more sanely, just run the guitar cable round the back of the pedalboard and into the first stomper.

Needs to be secured down somehow though, otherwise it is going to come up onto your pedals and be a bit annoying.

As I say though it is a small thing really. And I agree with Lamp, no Mustang or Telecaster on my headstock does annoy me.

Which is still useless unless I have an old school Marshall or an Orange, cos the jack will still cause the cable to cross over my body some way.

Think about it. Anyway it's not a problem, it's an annoyance.

It's not only the lack of guitar availability, but also the lack of parts that is frustrating too - you can't generally just find a lefty control plate or pickguard off the shelf.

or those classy vintage fender straps, they're curved, for righties dammit !!

the input/output thing on pedals is annoying yes, and those of amps too, heh, go wireless ? (wireless sux btw, hehe)

i also agree with the model names on guitars, like people asking me 'yeah, but isn't it a xx copy because the label..well the decal, looks different..y'know'

other annoying things..pickguards, yes, of course, control plates etc etc, hardshell cases, kind of

i was talking to this guy about making me a blend box to let my dry bass signal run parallel with my fx right, and i was asking him how long it would take to build it blablah, so i say how i'm used to waiting and waiting and waiting again as a lefty and he says 'as a lefty ?' you want me to make the knobs turn left instead of right, so counterclockwise, hehe

Cool :) Though that would probably confuse the hell out of me!
