Vibrato is a quick alternating change in pitch,

Tremolo is a quick alternating change in volume.

These are the actual musical meaning, how they relate to pedals is left ot the discretion of the manfacturer.

Ah yes, I just go confused when tremolos and vibratoes get called the same thing on guitars, so what's all that about then? D: Oh dear it's just one question after the other.

I think it's all Fender's fault, or at least that's what Doog told me (I had the same misunderstanding).

Yeah, Fender fucked it up big time.

So in 1956 Fender introduced the Vibrolux. The Vibrolux supposedly had Vibrato (pitch modulation), but in reality this was just another variation on the Tremolo already found in the Tremolux. In fact, NO Fender amp has EVER had true pitch-bending vibrato, regardless of catalog hype to the contrary.

The Marshall Vibratrem does both tremolo and vibrato, pretty neat. Didn't like the trem waveform much though.

To confuse matters further the Chicken Salad isn't really a vibrato, it's like leslie sim phasery thing.

Does someone have my chicken salad demo I made when I bought mine? Think it's called danos.mp3 or something? Can you mediafire it for me?

True pitch vibrato is only available in a few places, the DMM being one (listen to the breakdown in "The Reckoning" from the Automatons EP in my signature picture link. That's DMM vibrato - I also made a DMM demo - anyone got that shit?). The Ultra Vibrato Behringer are releasing soon may be worth a look aswell as the Vibrathang or Vibratrrm malarky

I think anything that features a quick oscillation, and isn't overtly phasery, pretty much gets marketed as a vibrato. It kind of sucks.

I kinda like it but haven't come up with any reason to use it seeing as I'm a nazi about modulation. It has to be completely necessary or I get a nose bleed.

That would imply I would ever allow myself to be in the same vicinity as those assclowns.
