Crappy samples (Tiny Terror samples)
I barely consider myself a guitar player, more of a singer
But I finally did some samples of my Tiny Terror....
Having said that, they show little of what the amp can do.
As stated before I am mainly a singer and basic rhythym
guitar player.. Anyways here they are:
http://www.netmusicians.org/files/53-So ... clean).mp3
http://www.netmusicians.org/files/96-co ... runch).mp3
http://www.netmusicians.org/files/83-I% ... uitar).mp3
http://www.netmusicians.org/files/53-de ... runch).mp3
They are alot more compressed than they sound live
(but I think that is somewhat normal for basic home recording)
I am just playing my Taylor t-5 straight into the guitar.
The first one (Solitude) is straight clean....v on about 5
tone on about 9 and gain on about 1 (this was almost
at gig volume with my 4 piece band
The second one (comp me) is close to may main overdrive tone
I use live. V on 5 Tone on 9 or 10 and gain on about 6
The third one (I Find) is slight crunch v on 4 tone on 8
and gain on about 3-4
The last one (d and B) is heavier crunch V on 5, tone
on 10, gain on 8
They sound alot more distinct live without the recording
compression, All of these tones you could gig with in any
normal volume band. (maybe not metal, etc...) and you
can get them at pretty much bedroom level as well
which kicks ass....

That was at probably 80% volume of our typical gigs. My drummer comes from a 70's rock style drumming too and hits hard.... That said, I am also using a Taylor t-5 which (although prone to feedback) has great clean tone....With true buckers, it will overdrive sooner....
I have never had a problem with getting a clean tone for live shows with this amp. I have been using it instead of my super reverb... As said before, I use mainly one amp for clean and pedals to push or create overdrive. I do have to say that I like just the lightest bit of color to my clean comparable to my super reverb on about 4 or so....At most clubs I can not turn up that high hence the desire for the TT.....

kool stuff, that guitar looks real nice by the way.
i use single coils so..it should stay clean. i changed the tubes in my deluxe for more headroom. i wonder what possibility's there are with the tt for getting more dirt or less with a tube change.
also could you not mod a switch to bypass the gain knob so you can switch between clean and dirt??

Thanks on the guitar...It is my baby....(it had better be as it cost way too much $....) LOL.... I traded a custom shop tele and a G&L tribute ASAT for it... and then a little...
As far as the gain mod, I am always a little leary of modding amps. particularly when I have like 5 or 6 overdrive pedals. It is just with the Talyor and the TT I love the natural overdrive better than any combo of my pedals....With my super, the pedals sounded great... Not sure if teh orange just sounds that good overdriven naturally, or the Super just takes pedals better...
As far as tubes, I believe it is 12ax7 which you should be able to replace with 12ay7...Right?

i totally forget what i replaced my tubes with i will look into it after work if someone hasn't piped in.
as for the mod..i have little intention of doing it myself. but the way that epi valve junior has been modde to hell, i can see it happening with the tt too..may take a little longer as there more expensive lol

kool to know, although without the amp in my hands its not worth thinking about it just yet.Mike wrote:Replacing a preamp tube with one of lower gain will just give you more play in the preamp gain knob before the onset of overdrive, but you won't get more clean headroom. You'll need to look into replacing the EL84s with power tube with a higher headroom.
