my jazzy body build.
Yhe project has commenced. Just in time to distract me from term papers and finals Thanks to Aug for the tracing
Went and got a 3 peice body blank from here
http://www.gilmerwood.com
a cool place with a whole musical insturments wood room, with some really crazy wood
I cut the bottom with a bandsaw, but need to make the neck pocket template and route the neck pocket next.
A question for the experts, how do you guys make shure the neck pocket is strait with the rest of the body?
Here's some pics. One's for me and the other is for my girlfriend.
we bought warmoth necks for the bodies. 22 fret jazzy YAY

that's not an easy question to answer. I don't know how the experts do it, but I like to trace the full template onto the blank, then set the neck pocket template on and route. Lining up IS key, so I've found that if you'll use a straight edge along both sides to see how they line up with the bridge. As for pocket distance from the bridge, simply measure another guitar's neck to bridge centerline. Once you route the neck pocket, if you find that it doesn't quite line up, then sand the pencil tracing off the wood, lay a neck in the pocket, use a straight edge to mark a line from each side of the neck, remove the neck, then lay the body template down and line shit up.light rail coyote wrote:

If that makes no sense, then hold on. I just woke up. ack.
That's some gift to your GF! Here's a single white guard for $20 BIN FYI. I was looking for something else just after this post and saw it. Can't beat 20.
Nice work on those! You guys are pushing me into body building with all your initiative.

I've always heard great things about Warmoth necks. If I get a template from Aug for a guitar body I'm gonna be buying a neck from them too.dodgedartdave wrote:What do you think about the quality of warmoth necks? how much did you pay? If you don't mind me asking?light rail coyote wrote:

Re: my jazzy body build.
I love warmoth necks about as much as anything. They seel them from $125 up. These were from their showcase necks. The one w/o birdeye was 199 and the one w/ was 175.dodgedartdave wrote:What do you think about the quality of warmoth necks? how much did you pay? If you don't mind me asking?light rail coyote wrote:

great deal on the PG, but I work at a guitar shop and have the hookup for ordering Warmoth, So I got all the parts I need on order, including 2 TS PGs
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. I probable won't do any more until I have the rest of my parts, and am done with finals though.

You just don't pay enough attention.Malik wrote:I am very impressed Icey, this is the first time you've shared your opinion on a guitar without offering your destructive criticism regarding bridges and/or electronics and/or wood amd/or anything like that. I like the look of it at the moment, it's got that Danelectro slabness to it.

Even if you're not being sarcastic with that post, you still come off sounding very arrogant. Was it really necessary to attack him if you were impressed?Malik wrote:I am very impressed Icey, this is the first time you've shared your opinion on a guitar without offering your destructive criticism regarding bridges and/or electronics and/or wood amd/or anything like that. When I was trying to point out Icey's post I tried many ways to type that message without it coming off as offensive, but it just wouldn't work, so I gave up. I did actually mean it positively, Icey would be way cooler if he didn't act like a Metal-Missionary.Billy3000 wrote:Even if you're not being sarcastic with that post, you still come off sounding very arrogant.
