You're the one who's fucking crazy! I usually don't take the time to wash my hands right before I play guitar unless they I just ate or worked out or did something to make them dirty. I go to the bathroom a lot and wash my hands everytime so my hands are usually always clean. I do make sure to wash my hands before I play my Taylor everytime though, because it's a fucking $1600 guitar and I want to keep it looking and feeling nice, not getting it all gunked up by playing it with chocolate on my hands ralph wiggum style.

I tried to find a picture of Ralph playing with bart's toys with the chocolate posicle in his hand but couldn't find one so I'll just quote him instead:

"Your toys are fun to play with, my toys are all sticky... I dropped my popstickle in your toy chest."
thank you for sharing that.

Nah, I didn't intentionally give him shit for washing his hands, I just made the original question based on his logic about the perfect tone. I thought "Wow, he puts so much care into his tone, but by his logic if he doesn't wash his hands before he plays the minuscule amount of dirt on his hands could affect his tone!", and it never really occurred to me that some people actually do clean their hands before they play.

For me, hygiene doesn't really come into the reasons I don't wash my hands. I feel there's more of a connection between player and guitar if you've got those sweaty hands and the neck's all nice and naturally lubed up. Dirty strings also have a nicer tone, I hate the bright sound of fresh strings. If I was worried about dirtying up an expensive guitar, I'd just give it a wipe afterwards.

Icey can wash his hands if he likes, that's fair enough, I just think it's funny.

Sometimes I dont understand you, not to sound patronising as I'm not much older myself but sometimes you seem really grown up but then other times it's really easy to remember you're just a kid. Just cut people some slack and let people get on with things how they want too, I too wash my hands before I play, playing with greasy hands is wank.

It wasn't just in relation to that statement, I just mean in general with the hoppin on the nuts thing.

Also its just general sweat and stuff really, or after i've eaten but I can't speak to everyone.

Yeah! I'd wash my hands if they were seriously greasy, but I don't do it as a matter of course as i don't get sweaty really.

Sometimes my hands get too sweaty and I can't play because my neck's too glossy. I just wipe my hands on my jeans a lot. It's cool.

Still leaving muck behind on the neck that is going to build up or dust will stick to leading to furry neck syndrome

OH SHIT, GET ME SOME MARIGOLDS.

Come on guys, it's just a guitar neck. Considering how manland we're all meant to be, I'm surprised by how many people give a fuck about keeping their necks hygienically clean. If I picked up my neck and for some bizarre reason it had shit on the back, I'd wipe it off. Job done.

I'm going to not wash my hands and play my guitar for ages and get really sweaty and bring it to the UKOGBANISSDOMUADHIBRNB and scare off all the pussies. 8)

Who said I was ever manland? I'd like to stay away from that word as possible. Its not about being hygienic, it is about keeping your neck nice feeling and drag free. A dirty neck does loose some of its playability. No point in a glossy neck if it ain't smooth as hell.

UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND SHORT SCALE DOT ORG MEET UP AT DOOG'S HOUSE IN BOGNOR REGIS NEAR BRIGHTON.

That's gotta be the official acronym from now on, unless anybody can make it any longer?

My rant wasn't just aimed at you, even though I quoted you. A lot of people have been complaining about cleanliness in this thread, it makes me weep (but not on my neck, don't worry).

I'm not talking about hygiene. It's all about the touchy feely parts.
