i had a 1978 fender bassman ten in ok condition and i loved it to death. i made a dumb decision and sold it. my rig hasnt been the same since.

today i had the opportunity to trade my peavey classic 5 4x10 straight up for a 1972 fender bassman ten in pristine condition. naturally, i stabbed my old standby in the back (sorry peavey) and jumped at the chance. it was a chance id take over and over and over again. thank youuu jesus.

be jealous:

Awesome, presumably the "Ten" stands for the 10", not the amp being 10w?

that's a very, very nice amp you got there man !

silverface...mmm

everytime i see a silverface bassman head pop up on this belgian secondhand site i feel like 'yep, i'm just gonna go for it'..but never did, they're reasonably priced too i think, unlike those little princeton reverbs that go for €500+ (a lot for an old, small, low wattage amp i think)
but those old bassmans... they're great with bass too, nothing but vintage toob goodness.

thanks alot! yeah something just draws me to the silverface cosmetics. and you know what? i always hear terrible things about silverface fenders, and not one of them has been true. except for the ultralinear transformers being teh sux.

as soon as i can ill get some sounds up. im oh so very pleased with how smooth and fat this amp sounds. the overdrive is just bonkers.

Silverface vs. Blackface is just FDP forum snakeoil corksniffing shite. It's a transformer change and like 6 caps.

OK now you're my favourite member after posting gutshots. I love that shit.

if it was recapped it was some time ago as those are no spring chickens. It looks absolutely beautiful. Congratulations. I love simple touches like the diagram for the tubes to use.

haha thanks buddy. yeah i didnt know how recent a cap job was if there was at all. so far theres nothing bad happening sound wise so i dont think its something to worry about. and we all love tube charts.

i think its funny that my firefox spell checker puts a red line under "favourite". and colour. haha. i love the british way of spelling things. it makes certain words look more elegant and cool.
