Overdrive in need

Post by paincake »

I can't find the topic where people recommended Overdrive pedals.

I've been using a Sparkledrive and Tubescreamer. The Sparkle is on the fritz and I'm so over the Tubescreamer.

Any recommendations? Boutique is hot.

I've not tried the Blues Driver.
I've not tried the Marshall....

I will.

Does anyone on here make OD pedals?

I've heard a lot of good things about the Blues Driver, I've not tried one yet, but it's on my list of things to do...
I've got an OD 1, it's alright but not much better than the overdrive on my amp... I only bought it because there's loads of mods you can do to it, but I've not got around to doing any of them yet...

Your welcome to try my blues driver out. It was modded by Robert Keeley.

I liked the Marshall Guvnor2 when I had it. Really decent EQ on it, but it never sounded harsh or shit. Definately more "heavy overdrive", but you can dial in more mellow sounds.

I like the SIB varidrive (expensive), sparkledrive, modded blues driver, and the MXR wylde overdrive... I sue them at different times depending upon the mood.... I probably use the sparkledrive the most, but use it mainly for light crunch or volume boost... The varidrive kick ass...

You could always mail your tubescreamer to robert keeley for a few cool mods. I've considered doing it myself, but i like the sound of my ts9 alot already. I find i only engage it for leads, so the mid range hump and bass loss is actually a welcome "drawback". I'm sure theres plenty of mods online for both of your pedals as well.

Tell me more about the kind of overdrive you want... any example sounds or some more description you can give me about what you want?

And FUCK boutique unless you just really hate money - I can sort you out with the perfect overdrive for you for < $100.

Standout verstaile overdrives are:

Boss BD-2 Blues Driver
Boss OD-3 Overdrive
Proco RAT2
Danelectro Daddy-O
and many more...
