Marshall can't satisfy the demand for the JVM
So Marshall have now told Manson's that it may be another 4 weeks before they can supply them with their order of JVMs...
Boo.

I'm ringing around - Reidy's said that their computer is showing 1 in stick, but the guy thinks that's computer error, so is going to check the warehouse and get back to me.
Soundslive have got one, but it's allocated to someone, but it has been since February. Again he's going to check on that and get back to me.
Might be lucky and get one.
I'm not the most patient when I've ordered something!

My local shop does em, they might have one in stock still on the shop floor?

our rythm guitarist used to have a marshall top (jcm800 i think..not sure) then he sold it (boohoo) and got the hughes and kettner trilogy but i'm kinda hoping he'll go back to marshall and get one of those jvm's (would be a nice match for his cab too since it's a marshall 1960).. the h&k looks nice with all the blue but i heard some sound samples of the jvm at another guitar forum and it sounds fantastic (esp. with humbuckers i think) it' s perfect for the kind of stuff we bring
they usually go for about €1500 no ?
for uk'ers, try some german webstores, thomann's site says they can get them in about 5 days, musik-produktiv's site says they have 'em in stock, there's some others too that might have them, just send an e-mail

If I was Marshall, I wouldnt want to satisfy the demand for the JVM. Having it slightly unattainable means you can sell it at rrp and fence sitters start wondering if they should move in to the buy camp.
From memory, most of their new models in the past few years have either been received as not that great compared to the older ones (I dont know any model names off hand), or too expensive (eg JCM800 2203 RI). If I were a marketing/sales guy at marshall, I'd be keeping supply pretty limited now to make it seem even more popular than it is, and create a "marshall did it right this time" kinda buzz about it.

Yeah it is a great amp and keeping it unattainable is a pretty smart move, it's not well received everywhere though, the metalheadz at HCAmpForum are going on about how it sounds fizzy if you dime the gains on the RED MODEZ not knowing that this thing has a LOT of gain and will get metal at midnight on those modes. Also the bedroom dad weekend warrior wannabes with their Plexis and Superleads in their dens' are trying them out for ten mins at Guitar Centre and saying "it's thin, it can't do Plexi sounds, it's too stiff". The internet means everyone thinks they're a critic.bob wrote:If I was Marshall, I wouldnt want to satisfy the demand for the JVM. It won't be for everyone, but if you like to use 4 or 5 different sounds in terms of gain structure and you're a fan of the classic Marshall sounds (Plexi, JCM800, DSL, TSL) then you'll be happy. Personally I think it's terrific.
The Clean channel is pretty damn great and in the Orange mode it's a warmer slightly driveable Plexi sound where the bass crumbles like a Superlead when it's pushed to the limit, the Red mode has a lot of gain and can sound like an old school crunchy Marshall, like a JMP 2x12" combo. The Crunch Green is a low gain JCM800 ish sound while as far as my experience playing 800's, the Orange and Red modes are it - while the red mode can get bassier and gainier at high gain settings than an 800 can without a pedal in front of it. The OD1 channel Green mode is the same as the Crunch Red which is great for me as I love that mode and can dial in two gain and volume levels with it, while Orange is a liquidy smooth high gain sound and Red builds upon that. OD2 is the channel I don't really like - they have shifted the mids down for the metal guys and if you keep the gain below 2 o clock or so on the Green channel it lacks bass. You can get it back by pushing the gain up and tweaking but it's not as easy to dial in as OD1. It would be a great lead sound in Orange or Red mode and a good metal channel, but at the gain levels I use it sounds too thin because I'm not driving the channel gain high enough. It doesn't matter though, I can set it up on Green to sound good or just forget about it - it battles with Crunch Red for a footswitch slot and is losing at the moment.
1 - Clean Green
2 - Crunch Orange
3 - OD1 Green
4 - Crunch Red (this is where OD2 Green used to be)
5 - Clean Orange
6 - Master Volume switch
1 is my clean sound, 2 my crunchy dry sound, 3 is a heavy crunch and 4 is my lead sound or just rawk sound. 5 I use for mellow leads and chording over Gareth's clean guitar for a little colour.

Yes indeed.Gavin wrote:Aren't you the bastard with the rockerverb?lamp wrote:So Marshall have now told Manson's that it may be another 4 weeks before they can supply them with their order of JVMs...Boo.
Story is the same everywhere - no-one has them and no-one is saying that they will be getting any in before the end of the month.
Oh well, looks like I'm going to have to wait.
