Speaker decision

Post by Chico Malo »

I'm currently thinking about replacing the Weber 12F150 speaker in my Marshall Studio 15. I was thinking about either going with a Celestion Alnico Blue or a Vintage 30. Any suggestions?

What don't you like abou t the current speaker? What do you want "more" or "less" of?

They're both good speakers and I like V30's more than Blue Dogs but that's my preference because I like classically orientated sounds rather than scooping and I find that Celestion speakers "engage" with guitar more.

The current speaker seems to thin and too much treble.

In that case either of the two you've mentioned will increase bass response as they have larger magnets. What do you want the midrange to be?

Flat - Blue Dog
Punchy - Vintage 30

Midrange to be phat.

So, since my amp only puts out 15 watts, will the 60 watt V-30 be an ok match?
