Here are some samples of the amp I built.
I did a quick mod to give it six different gain stages via a rotary switch on the front of the amp. The samples are of position 1 normal gain, position 4 medium, and position 6 high gain. The sound of the different stages sound a little subtle on the recordings, but in front of the amp it is HUGE and BALLSY.
I also put a sample of the clean chanel on position 4.
The controls are the same for all samples.
Pre amp - 10
Volume - about 1
Treble - 7
Mid - 10
Bass - 7 1/2
Presence - 4 1/2
I used the old mastervolume position for the gain switch
Everything was recorded with a 69' competition Mustang in the bridge position with a hot-rail
The samples are of me just goofing around over a couple of beers, so.....
PLEASE.......NO CRITIQUES ON THE DRUNKEN PLAYING!!!

Yeah.......That is with the pre amp on 10 and the gain stage on 4. I never play clean so i'm not a very good judge of clean tones.Doog wrote:Sounds cool, man! Very Marshally in places, but I guess that's a given..
Does the amp get any cleaner than the "clean" sample?

I'm surprised at how well it sounds. The samples dont really do it justice. I'm not really sure what i'm going to do with it though, it was kind of a practice build for a twin reverb. The parts for the twin ship out on monday. I "should" have it working next weekend.lamp wrote:That sounds really cool. You must be happy with how it turned out.

I use curly leads too. I'm trying to find a modern company that makes em, all the ones I have are old.

Thanks mikeMike wrote:Very Marshally and 800/Plexi'ish unsurprisingly.
Nice rounded bass notes.
Thanks for doing this!
