Orange TT close mic'd when very quiet sample

Post by Mike »

Gareth, J and I are laying down demo tracks at the moment for new songs for the next EP and we did some recording last Wednesday at Gareth's place. I used my Orange TT and that little Marshall 1x10" cab I made of the old Lead12 practise amp which was close mic'ed with Gareth's sennheiser thing. The amp was on a very low volume so as not to upset the neighbours and in Gareth's bathroom. You can actually hear some of Gareth's live guide vocal during the second clean passage it was that quiet.

Just an mp3 to give you an idea of how nice this amp can sound recorded, through a crap speaker at very very low volume.

MediaFire's uploads and downloads are currently offline while we perform scheduled upgrades.

We'll be back soon!

Nice one Mike. Every time I hear the TT I think it sounds great - and for that to be such low volume is really impressive.
I bet recording with it cranked will sound amazing.
Overall I'd say the TT sounds more like the Rocker series Oranges (like mine) than the more classic AD series - so I'm bound to like it!
Good work.

Yeah that's how I like it, biting (that is a punk song). I was using the bridge pickup of my Tele which is very bright, and the tone was up, you could easily smooth it should you want to.

Hmmmmmmm.

I have 200 notes in my sock all whispering Orange.

It has a 16ohm and two 8ohm outputs doesn't it? Can you use a single 8ohm output?

Yep.

The two 8 ohm outputs are for if you're running two 16 ohm cabs, plug one into each. Use either for a single 8 ohm cab.

Rocking. I've got this Thursday off before I go to ATP, gonna take a guitar down to Soundcontrol and try one out. A bunch of other people owe me another hundred. Calling in debts to buy gear :)
