HAI D00DZ HEP ME OUT
I'm a bit over ballz to the wallz fuzz at the moment, so I'm thinking of buying a distortion or overdrive. My Juice Box's nasally gain boost doesn't cut it for rhythm unless I'm putting humbuckers through it. What do you ngz recommend?
All of my favorite distortion sounds I'd like to achieve seem to be done with Marshalls. What would make my Bassman sond like a Marshall? Think Placebo's "Scared of Girls."

hah yeah dude. actually, im not sure about the dist+ because it sounds good throught the deluxe but its kinda trebly into the bassman. i use a bad monkey slammed into it and i get a nice thick crunch. the drivemaster is a marshall od that is pretty damn nice.theshadowofseattle wrote:Dude, are you FOR SERIOUS? Because you use Teles into a Bassman 10, just like I do. So your opinion is pretty valuable to me on this.

the original marshalls (JTM 45) were heavily based on bassmans, as jim marshall didn't know a lot about amps and didn't have anyone helping him yet.
oh, and get a RAT by the way.

you lazy sod.

even lazier sod. that page lists all models of the RAT ever made with teh dates of production below each name... so it's easy to see which ones are still produced. click on the name of the pedal for a pic and info.

the jazz is strong with you, stone. besides, everyone plays blues licks or smooth jazz for professional gear samples, unless it's the obligatory sexy funk wah demo, it's a scientific fact. it has been proven in a laboratory by men in white coats holding beakers of fizzy stuff.

Harsh.
I did RAT2 samples when I demoed by Crate Power Block with pedals and my Marshall DSL401:
Crate Power Block + RAT2
Marshall DSL401 and some RAT towards the end
I know you were being sarcastic and don't really want a sample, but I'm a consummate professional.

RAT2 and do the Reutz mod. You get less gain, but the pedal sounds a lot nicer, spesh lower down on the distortion pot. Or you could always put in a pot like I did, for Reutz-stock-beyond optionz.
And I've never tried a Marshall dirt pedal I didn't like.
Here's Strat w/singles > oct pedal > RAT2 (stock mode) > Marshall (Marshalls being based on the Bassman) from the live Casa Bonita recordin' sesh.
