Rat and Muff COMBO
Moderated By: mods
good idea, i always wanted to try out a rat2 but never got the chance, lots of bassists use it for dirt too
and indeed, the housing of the bm is kind of stupid, it looks nice but i just kicked it off my board because it takes up way too much space, it's not really a 'must' but sometimes i miss it, i considered getting the lbm but some dude says it's just not the same..whatever
and then there's the non standard adapter plug thing too with ehx pedals..

i remember the bassplayer from zebulon pike told me he uses one too (or used to)
i'd be able to use it for both guitar and bass, i'd like something other than the bm for distortion on guitar later on (don't use my amp's distortion) but i kinda wonder ..can te rat2 go from overdrive to distortion..or is it just a pure distortion box ?

Just found this, I did some samples a while ago. Jazzmaster (with beefy Quarter Pound pickup in bridge) into RAT2 (Ruetz mod) into Marshall DSL50.
SONDS
It's probably more flexible with single coils since you've got less input gain from the get-go.

That's just not true. My RAT2 is newer than yuors and the dials change the sound over the whole dial. I'll have to bring it to the meetup.Doog wrote:The newer ones have crappy pots that do the whole sweep over 1/3 of the dial, the last 2/3 doing nothing.. so it can be hard to dial in lower gain sounds.
Ah well, that's what I heard on the GuitarGeek forums, maybe it was an oldass post. Good to hear they sorted that shit out, it was a pretty dumb thing to do.Mike wrote:That's just not true. If they weren't PCB mounted, I woulda changed them myself by now.

Guitargeek I find a little slow. I like the speed of the HC forums but the people there are real hit and miss. Some are great but on the Amp forum particularly if you're not into metal and/or Mesa/Boogie then you're an idiot. There is serious Marshall hayte over there.
We'll do a side by side in August for sure, I'd be interested to hear the differences innit.
