I'm with Nick on this, but I do see Malik's point about the aesthetic appeal.

nitro, its time tested and looks better, ive never heard anything about tone.
and think about it, you bang a laquer finish and it cracks, you bang a poly finish and it breaks off of the body, poly is brittle, and there is no real gloss to it, not like nitro anyway.
there is a reason why laquer is found on high end guitars.

Depends on the guitar.

Besides, I can get Fender colors in nitro IN CANS. I can't get dick poly in cans. Nothing. The poly that comes in cans is not catalyzed, and therefore never achieves the hard shell.

No nitro? Acrylic lacquer is prolly the best alternative.

KRYPTON GREEN There are enough titting colors to paint the Sistine Chapel.

For the bodies: I've chosen to go a much quicker laquer route...but, for the necks, nitro is still the only way to go...(at least for now)

Neck wise, nitro feels so good. Poly for the body is ok, but I still prefer nitro on the classic styled guitars.

Indeed. I imagine it's very similar to the reason a lot of very expensive teles have 3 saddles and tone geeks bang on about orange caps.
Shabba.

i vote nitro because it is easy to get fender colors in aerosol cans and because poly chips and flakes off way too easily.
