Should I sell my Marshall 4x12"?
So I have a beat to shit 80's JCM800 4x12" 1960A cabinet with 4 Celestion G12T-75s in it.. and a 1936 2x12" I bought 6 months or so ago after my last one got nicked and I got fed up trying to get my sound with combos.. now I'm pretty much just using the 2x12" exclusively for rehearsals, playing at home and gigs. I just don't really need the 4 speakers of the 4x12" at all - I'm only competing with Gareth and his 1x12" and Orange TT, and Jon's bass amp which is a 300W 1x15" combo.
The 4x12" is just sat in my house taking up space and supporting the 6100 - it seems to me a bit of a waste. I dout I'll get that much for it - they're £386 new but it's beat with several tolex tears and the logo is missing also, plus they tend to only go for around £150 or so on ebay since they'll bloody heavy and demand is pretty low I guess... so if I sell it I can only imagine getting around £100 for it. On the plus side it's old and the speakers are nicely worn in.
I dunno, what do you think? I have an old dustcover for it but that won't make much difference.

Yeah, it's 16 ohms so it would work fine with the TT - getting it up to crazytown would be the problem as it's heavy as fook.Hurb wrote:would it plug into my tt?

Andy I never really notice a problem with the 2x12" vs the 4x12" on stage, I played with the 4x12" for a couple of years and loved it, but I can still hear myself great with the 2x12", it's on castors which lifts it a little and generally the stage is a good 2 foot off the ground anyways... plus there's worse things than having to turn the amp up a little more at gigs, especially when you have the headroom.
Find a way dude! i dont neeeeed it..but i lust for losing valuable floor space in my house!!!Mike wrote:Yeah, it's 16 ohms so it would work fine with the TT - getting it up to crazytown would be the problem as it's heavy as fook.Hurb wrote:would it plug into my tt?

People must buy 4x12s online all year round, there's gotta be someone who'd do it. My old Trace Elliot 4x12 from Flying Pig came by courier, although it's not quite as big or heavy as a 1936.Mike wrote:I don't know of any couriers who will take it.
Maybe you guys could sort out a trailer for Nick's car?

I knew there was some way to get those rawk tones.
without wanting to sound like a tight fisted northern cunt bag...would you move on the 100 price tag?
