Design-wise, what do you think?

Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

Last question for now - as you know the GFS Pro Tube pups come as follows: Bridge - 8k, Middle reverse wound 6k, Neck 4.9k.
What combination had you thought of using? Or is this something we could choose? ie. Having a hotter or a more vintage sounding version?

I would order a hardtail version but Dave said he would never build anything for me ever because I'm a piece of shit - does that go for these new guitars aswell or are you doing the building, Aug?

If so just let me know and I'll get someone else to order one on my behalf. This is entirely serious, I'm liking the way this is shaping up.

My money's as good as anyone's, kickin'. I'll get you a deposit after I get paid on the 26th. Are you doing this all through paypal?

You should knock up a really basic wiki page with the paypal detail so we can all see how many you're making, who is what serial number etc and so you can post pictures when you start making these things. That technical drawing you did looks superb.

the serials will happen as the deposits happen at this point. Should you deposit something right away, you'd be M00004

My photoshop skills aren't up to snuff, but this should give youse guys an idea of what I'm doing.

I think I'm going to rework the headstock a bit, but essentially, the guitar shape is almost there.

As for colors, I'm thinking red, yellow, burnt orange and med. quasar blue.

But, nothing is in stone.

Also, dave and I are buying the wood and whatnot tomorrow, and I should have an actual body to show you next week.

looking good. Looking forward to it.

Do you reckon you'll be able to get hold of a blank neck to make an example neck soon enough?

perhaps. We're still looking for necks. I'm hoping to offer both maple and rosewood. For starters, they'll be rosewood fretboards.

mike: I sure hope so.

bubbles: I sure hope so.

My internet and cable was accidentally shut off yesterday afternoon, and it was just turned back on a couple of hours ago...

I will do some more research on outsourced necks to ensure the lowest bulk price and options.

Feel free to look around on the internet if you like...here's the specifics:

24" maple neck.
blank paddle headstock
truss adjustment on the headstock
truss rod cannot extend any further towards the heel than the 22nd fret.
anything else you can think of.

Again, the neck is essentially a vintage B width Fender neck.

Shape looks great Aug.
Colour-wise, the suggestions all seem fairly brash/bright? Maybe thats just the generic vision I have. I know it's your call, but I'm sure more along pastel colours would go down well ;)
Did anyone mention Shell Pink...? haha.

Also - did you see my question on which pups you were planning on using?

Finally - Will they exclusively be matching headstock? I'm not a fan that's all.

ah...GFS Pro-Tube lipsticks.

As for matching headstocks...yea. The design just wouldn't POP! without it. However, if you *really, really, REALLY* insisted, then I spose we could make yours without.

Again, my photoshop skillz are teh SUCK! It'll look different. Trust me. I haven't spent all this time on Fender shortscales just to suddenly get stupid and start building shit that would blow Icey's nut.

GFS Pro tubes sound cool - looking on the website they come as follows: Bridge - 8k, Middle reverse wound 6k, Neck 4.9k.

Neck in the neck and Middle in the bridge, and you get Mustang hum-cancelling tones.
