Design-wise, what do you think?

That mock-up looks awesome. It looks totally unique from most other guitars. My only gripe is the headstock, but I know that's a work in progress.
Why not use a gumby headstock, I know a few people here other than me like it. Then again, I probably won't have the funds to order one, so my opinion doesn't really matter.

i dont know how i missed this thread,
awsome progress so far, the neck situation reminds me that i was gonna do a neck kit.
altho the only problem is i still don;t have access to making 24 scales,
and even if i did for 50 bones it won;t be shaped so you would be looking at 12-20 hours in the neck, which for 700 or even 850 would be rediculous.
aug, give me this week and let me see what i can find in st,. lious, there are always people around selling stupid shit, and every now and again someone has something legit, let me ask around for you, i may already knowa place where you can get a paddle style neck for 70 or so.

thanks, robert! basically, what I need is a 24" Mustang neck with the truss rod adjustment nut at the headstock, and the headstock done just like the Mustang, but the shape left alone, and no tuner holes.robert(original) wrote:i dont know how i missed this thread,

UPDATE!
the templates are done, and I'm cranking out the first body tomorrow afternoon. Pics will be posted.
After having been through the entire design process, I now understand just how hard an original design can be. Look-wise, nothing has changed, and all the changes occured "under the hood."
The headstock is going to require a bit of tweeking, but that'll happen next week or something.

Very nice. If there's a headstock debate, how about one like t3h Kurdtzz drew in one of his JS designs. I can't find a picture, but it's a 3 a side headstock and he labelled it saying something about "if this one isn't possible then the normal Fender one will do". I've always thought that that headstock looked dead good.

of coz , NotAug wrote:oh, I think standard dots will do, after all, I'm not building these for Willian Randall Rhoads fans.
Again, the question dave and I continually ask each other is: Is it simple? We believe that simplicity is key.
