Bass Effects
Im thinking of getting a new pedal for bassing. I use a phaser and distortion, and we've experimented with other effects like envelope filters and choruses but have discovered that most effects on bass are very subtle. Any suggestions?

you after some more extreme sounds then ?
square waves fuzzes can be extreme,
but something other than fuzz (blue box is nice on bass!).. hm.. bass synths.., pitch shifters ?
i just got that lightning bolt dvd (finally) and it's a cool watch if you're after some very noisy bass sounds..and don't want a huge ass pedalboard, i think i saw him using a bass whammy, oc2, odb, also a line six delay (green one).
about the odb; quite an extreme box, reminds me of dfa 1979 too with certain settings but can can get even noisier, i have it, been wanting to sell it for ages because i've no use for it in my current band but it's great for the price, tho some people say it's crap.. i kinda like it.
i don't know a lot about modulating fx for bass

nothing boutique or spectacular really, just an EHX US big muff and an MXR blue box with c11 mod, the big muff is no longer on my gigging pedalboard tho..takes up way too much space and i also need a different cable for it to add it to my onespot daisychain..so it's out, at the moment.
i do have to add i always use a clean blend when i use them in a band situation to have a little bit of my original signal in there too, so i don't lose too much definition.
i just remember the ampeg scrambler pedal sounded pretty doomy in the demos i've heard (talkbass.com)... unfortunately it's very pricey for such a limited pedal... but if that's not really an issue, check it out.

Perhaps but I didn't think the prunes had been around that long, its a very cool pedal and makes some awesome noises, but as far as usable tone in a band situation, it depends on the music your making, I wouldn't use it playing for the corrs, but it fits so perfectly with the mint chicks, the bass is pretty much the melodic intrument of the bandtheshadowofseattle wrote:Isn't that what the ng from mclusky used?Rikki wrote:crowther prunes and custard

yeah I use a hot cake and a run, but the hot cake is my go to the rat is only real good for leadLanark wrote:The Crowther dude also makes my favorite Overdrive pedal, the Hotcake.
Just kickass and worth every penny.
hes also made a double hotcake now which is the usual model and the bluesberry model side by side with a mix knob, very cool
he makes a specially modded version of the hotcake for bass and its pretty freaking sweet for an overdrive fuzzy kind of tone

thats a different pedal, and funnily enough I just got one today, it sounds quite different to the rat I was borrowing off a mate, its a little too brutal for my liking, have to have all the settings down real low its pretty anoying to adjust, does have a pretty good rythym sound though I must admitMike wrote:Blasphemy!
