i got a firebird for $250AU
i was changing the strings and the nut came out
im not sure if this is normal for epiphones because this is my first.
i like the action, neck and tones from selector but the lack or contour and wierd weighht distribution put me off.
was hella dirty but after a good clean it looked like this
i plan to get a tort pickguard, gold hardware and maybe a maestro trem.
its got mini hbs so im a bit confused on what to replace them with
i dont think they make them like this anymore.

last summer i teamed up with an old high school friend for heavium, he had a red epi firebird, they're nice guitars..tho i can't really stand epi's that much... i thought it sounded a bit dull clean, but alright with a heavy distortion box (he was using a tRex dr. swamp)
i think he got sick of it after two weeks

I <3 Heatmiser.
yeah i got laid off so i didn't have any income coming in for a couple weeks, so i sold off some pedals.
i hadn't planned on getting a bp-1 but it was too good of a deal to pass up. luckily it sounds nothing like the albini demo.
i only got to play it for about 30 minutes before my ampeg shit a brick...my tremolux needs servicing too. the only amp i have that works right now is a dano honeytone.
good to see another heatmiser fan.
i really don't know how albini managed to get the bp-1 to sound so bad.Nick wrote:So does it sound like the real perc? The albini vid was just spiteful propoganda after all?
from what little i've heard of the original HP...i don't think they sound the same...i do think that the added features to the bp-1 changed the way it responds. that said, i still like it a lot. i didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time with it though, since my last working amp died while I was trying it out.
its a little darker than i was expecting, but sounds great stacked with the trebly memphis distortion. the harmonics really stand out and sustained notes have lots of movement.
with my cyclone i was tapping the trem springs on the back of the body and holding a chord and it was coming through fairly loudly with the bp-1.....i'd hit the body of the guitar with the side of my hand and get cymbal crash like sounds. lots of random weird stuff....but thats why i like it so much.

True story, this happened to a friend of mine.Mike wrote:Dad: "Where's all my gaffer tape kid? What have you done with it all?"
Kid: "I was covering up the names of my pedals so noone would see what effects I'm using. It's all about intrigue and style, Dad".
Dad: "..."
TWO WEEKS LATER
Mum: "Your father and I are getting divorced, also you're adopted".
