Fender Hot Rod Deluxe vs Orange Tiny Terror

I can't record any samples coz I don't have the equipment at the moment, but I have been battling it out all morning and have decided they are both great amps(like you didn't know that allready)

The orange is more sparkly, the hot rod has more low end balls too it.

They both run out of clean headroom about the same level of volume, thats never been a problem for me with the hot rod so replacing it with the orange shouldn't cause any problems, however I'm feeling like I might be making a big mistake haha.

At the end of the day I will be able to sell my tt and cab for about the same as I would pay for a hot rod, or I could just take back the tt haha, so its not the end of the world, its just a little bit frustrating trying to make a descision because only one of them can stay.

Sounds like you've made your mind up - the Hot Rod Deluxe is overpriced trash though. But if you're after a louder clean than the TT I guess it's a step in the right direction.

However they're shit amps.

whats your shit amp judgement based on, I prefer the tt tone at lower volumes, but when they are both cranked the hot rod really comes to life, it might be the better speaker helping out, but I'm really pleased with it, I still havn't made my mind up entirely though

offers some pretty good mods, I must admit my flatmate has the same amp but with the original eminence speaker, and it doesn't compare to mine with the jensen, but it is kinda boomy in compraisson to the orange, its kinda good in my room, but in a band situation it just sounds kinda wrong, I think I'm gonna have to spend all of tomorrow making noise with the amps again before I can make a descision

I've never rated the Hot Rod Deluxe...
Altho a friend of mine has been playing his les paul thru one recently and it actually sound pretty nice with a bit of drive...

They are defo Overpriced new, but recently I've noticed the used prices are around $350 at my local music go round, that would be well worth the price, then dump some money on tubes and other "mods" into it and it will be worth it. But thats the only way.

TT = $500 no cabinet.

You'd get a better deal on used TT and Cab than used Hot Rod Deluxe over here too - unfortunately seeing as Fender is SO FAR AWAY we get stiffed on American amps.

the hotrod gets a way better jazz tone coz its kinda boomy, but the orange has a bit better rock tone, its just one of those anoying desicions, I could just keep both and run a dual amp setup, its sounds in my room with stereo delay haha

i was really disappointed in the tiny terror. i was set to buy it and a orange 1x12 amp for my apartment rig, and gave it a really good try out[with my main guitar, a les paul studio with suhr pickups]. at lower volumes it sounded really fizzy gain wise, and the mild overdrive wasnt very interesting. it sounded ok at 9-10 but, well, that is no longer apartment volume even on the 7 watt setting and still, it had too much high end/not enough low. neither the rocker 30 or the ad30 i've owned/used had near the highend. maybe it was the orange 1x12 i was using, but in general i was unimpressed with it. first time i have ever been unimpressed with a orange in my life. the store didnt have anything else cab wise i really wanted to try it through either.

Im a fan of the hot rod series. They're clean, and therefore dont overly compress or color your tone. I prefer the bigger ones though, for more loudness.

That said, I've neve rowned one, just tried 'em out.

I found the deluxe to be plent loud, most of the gigs I've played with have been smaller venues though

The deluxe is plenty for just about any venue. I just got sick of using pedals to hit facemelting pizza-like distortion.

its not really a face melting metal kinda amp, anyways I sold it for more than its worth, so I'm an orange boy now, I can always get another one if I change my mind haha

Hi! Nice to see you around these parts again - I enjoy your posts.

I think you may have been hearing the Vintage 30 high end in the Orange Cab, they can be harsh, I love my TT through G12T-75s and the little 10" driver that used to be in my solid state marshall practise combo, sounds brilliant - smooth topend and I love the overdrive. Fizz is something that bothers me in amps but I don't hear it in the Orange. It does sound glorious wound up - everyone should practsie with one at least once.
