... i know nothing about it, other than what i've read on the net. and man i'm scared. this is supposed to be the weirdest and most useless piece of shit EVER built and offered commercially to a public, in form of a pedal (we all know celin dion, britney etc. are no pedals - but you SHOULD step on them - ok ok i'm getting carried away)...
anyone here has one of these babies? stories to share.
i've had several old Ace Tone Fuzz Masters (FM-2) and man it sounded like a onion/diarrhea milkshake - this one's supposed to be even wilder.
i'll love it, i know.
It's essentially a Blue Box that DOD reverse engineered, with a treble control and an octave amount (up to 2 octaves down) control added. Buzz didn't actually use it because he broke his, although it's meant to be pretty cool, although you do pay for them these days.
OH MAN!!! satan himself lives in this box! the reviews online were all bullshit, this is WAY worse than i thought
i had to play it thru 3 different amps to make sure it wasn't blown speakers. now THIS is weird. straight from the bizarro world.
i'll have to spend some more hours or days with it, right now i don't know if i love it or hate it. whoa!
oh guys believe me i have played a blue box. that is baby poop compared with this bastard!!! - OR mine is in fact defective, who knows! i can't imagine that something like this actually went on the market. but rumor is, buzz designed this as a joke, and apparently only used it on the last 30 secs from the Stoner Witch album. i'll have to listen to that one again. man i love the Melvins!
i'll just have to be educated in home recording, but i'll have a friend over this weekend to show me. i can't wait to share this noise with you guys!!!
Buzz box is a DOD Grunge pedal mixed with a Blue Box, designed for Buzz of the Melvins to replace his BB + RAT setup. DOD make pedals out of cardboard and Buzz crushed his by looking at it when it arrived, so he never used it.
I've played one, I know someone that uses one, I like them. They are still made like shit and don't survive long, but they sond kool. I would do a rehouse with a switch replacement myself.

Yeah I've heard the switches on earlier DOD pedals don't last well at all.

That is an extremely generous way of saying it. I would have said they fail faster than Lino does at everything. The switches are the absolute worst I have ever seen, even worse than the old Ibanez Soundtanks that were pure plastic. Any modern DOD should get an immediate rehouse with a replaced switch.
