Post by theshadowofseattle »

dude I got a 1965 P-Bass pickup today for $18
Stripestore: WHAT?!
Stripestore: NO!
Stripestore: YOU DID'T
ElementsofBattle: The nigga who runs the guitar shop in town
Stripestore: how do you know it's a 1965?
ElementsofBattle: had a box of pickups
ElementsofBattle: in the back of the shop
ElementsofBattle: COVERED in dust
Stripestore: yeah
ElementsofBattle: he hadn't fucked with it in 10 years minimum
ElementsofBattle: and I was digging through it
ElementsofBattle: and I'm like, hey what's the p-bass pickup in the Seymour Duncan case?
ElementsofBattle: He's like "That's an original 65 p-bass pickup I swapped out in the 80's or so."
ElementsofBattle: me: "aw damn, I can't afford that"
ElementsofBattle: Him: "Yes you can"
ElementsofBattle: me: "lol wut?"
Stripestore: hahahahaha
Stripestore: yeah
Stripestore: that's how parkway rolls too
Stripestore: dude, you gotta sell it
ElementsofBattle: Him: "You moved away 3 years ago and still come back to the shop. That pickup hasn't been used in 20 years. $20 bucks and it's yours."

It even came with the shielding plates and foam. Even if it's some random 80's Fender pickup, this is trill as hell.

Is this awesome? Y/N

Did you haggle it down from $20 to $18 or something? That's a bit cheeky.

I bought $12 in strings and handed him $40, and he gave me back a $10 insisting that I take it.

Okay, I'm thinking it's not a 65 pickup because the wiring isn't cloth - making it likely to be a 70's pickup. HOWEVER it might be replaced? The rest of the pickup (bobbin, condition of rust on magnets, etc) looks exactly like the 65 up for auction. The foam was COMPLETELY MELTED. omg I ruined a perfectly good pair of scissors scraping it off. This is totally going in my P-bass until I can definitively date them.
