Design-wise, what do you think?

Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

Yeah, just like how everyone said Aug making two Mercury threads was kinda lame, eh?

More branding! I didn't hear back on the last set so I don't know if that was a good direction or not. I was going for a boutique look, but it also looks a little ski and skate. I still think lowercase fits the mood, and I added italic to match the lines of the guitar. It's a modern take on traditional cursive script. Something to consider. You don't want to go to all that trouble to design the thing and then skimp on the brand.

I got to playing around with inlays and thought the Mercury model could have eclipse stages. They could be more stylized to match the guard shape. I was also looking at the headstock again. I like the shape, but even in the finished state it seems a little bulky. I made it slightly offset to match the body. It's more work, but has more personality without radically changing the top curve. The big question about that has to do with weight balance between neck and body.

The "phases of the moon" inlays are copyrighted by Luna Guitars. As much as I'm sure we all want to see Aug sued penniless, I'd say no.

I really like it and I totally appreciate the efforts. I REALLY like the "mercury" part. I like the "noho" part, but I was thinking a BIG "N", little "o", BIG "H", little "o". Can you do "NoHo" with the same font and use the caps like that? The single "N", I don't really like that much.

I like to moon thing too, but if it's taken, it's taken.

The Mockingbird body--I can see that. It looks like it's spearing something. It looks a bit too Ric still. All those curves can be tweaked.

Thanks for the feed. Even salty (Shad) feedback can be helpful. It just takes some refinements. I had never heard of Luna and even with this design, the octave doesn't need to be round. It can be the shape of the guard.

Unfortunately Tarzana goes to Cap N shape when capped. But it wouldn't have to use that type for the company name. The Big N could be a symbol (Nike swoosh), above text. This is a common practice. Another trick is to increase the size of the NH and make the Os thicker to make it appear as caps. The curves are what make the N work so well. Some fonts provide alternative case styles, but this one doesn't.

Here are other fonts I was messing with. They are all straight type except the bottom right--I put the screw heads in. They mimic the shape of the N and H cross bars (although I didn't quite match the angle right in the first O). I liked them because they look like pup screws.

Just fucking around. I am off all week. Logos are like crossword puzzles for me. I like doing them.
